JDI poprv\u00e9 publikovali Smith, Kendall a Hulin v roce 1969 ve sv\u00e9 klasick\u00e9 knize &#8220;The Measurement of Satisfaction in Work and Retirement&#8221;. JDI je &#8220;fasetov\u00e9&#8221; m\u011b\u0159en\u00ed spokojenosti zam\u011bstnanc\u016f, tj. zam\u011bstnanci jsou po\u017e\u00e1d\u00e1ni, aby se zamysleli nad konkr\u00e9tn\u00edmi aspekty sv\u00e9 pr\u00e1ce a ohodnotili svou spokojenost s t\u011bmito aspekty.
